White Bear Youth Football Board of Directors — role description and responsibilities.
The Vice President of the WBYF Association plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall direction and stability of the program. Working closely with the President, the Vice President helps guide board operations, maintain clear communication across the organization, and ensure that the program continues to run smoothly and consistently from season to season. This role provides essential backup leadership and serves as a steady, reliable presence for board members, coaches, and families.
The Vice President assists the President in overseeing board activities and ensuring that each board member has the support they need to carry out their responsibilities effectively. They help facilitate communication, reinforce expectations, and contribute to a collaborative environment where volunteers feel valued and informed. When the President is unavailable, the Vice President steps in to lead meetings, manage communication, and handle program-level decisions to keep operations moving without interruption.
A significant part of the Vice President’s role involves helping address questions, concerns, or issues that arise within the program. They work with the appropriate board members to ensure matters are handled promptly and professionally, and they help maintain consistency in how policies and procedures are applied across all teams. The Vice President also supports the President in representing WBYF in official capacities, including communication with league officials, community partners, and other external groups when needed.
In addition to these leadership responsibilities, the Vice President plays an active role across the Association’s standing committees. They serve as a key member of the Finance Committee, helping provide oversight of the program’s financial health and long-term planning. They participate in the Rules Committee, contributing to discussions around league rules, coach qualifications, training standards, and program-wide consistency. The Vice President also supports the work of the Property Committee, helping guide decisions related to equipment, uniforms, and field operations. Through the Communications Committee, they help ensure that program materials, records, and public-facing information remain accurate, accessible, and aligned with WBYF values. The Vice President is also a core member of the Code of Conduct Committee, helping review incidents, uphold expectations, and ensure that all decisions reflect the program’s commitment to safety, respect, and youth-development-first values. When convened, they participate in the Coach Selection Committee, contributing to a fair, transparent, and mission-aligned process for selecting coaches each season.
The Vice President collaborates closely with the Coaching Director, Team Operations, Communications, and other board roles to ensure alignment across all areas of the program. They help reinforce program values, support long-term planning, and contribute to discussions about improvements, growth, and future needs. Their perspective helps ensure that decisions are made with the best interests of players, families, and volunteers in mind. Overall, the Vice President provides dependable leadership, strong communication, and program-wide support that strengthens the entire organization. By working alongside the President and supporting every level of the board, the Vice President helps create a stable, organized, and positive experience for the WBYF community. 5 2026
